Remember the show Design on a Dime? Well, I loved the concept but the buck stopped there. I always felt the update needed an automatic facelift. Too harsh? Here's the thing about DIYs if looks like its a DIY it might not be should be displayed.

My latest segment on Great Day brings some fresh ideas and as always a good laugh. I mean whats a little DIY without some kicks and giggles.

"LIVING ON A DIME GDH SEGMENT"

A few things you can do to give attention and TLC to your place.

1.  Find interesting talking pieces under $25. Make sure that they are large enough to see and have the "it" factor. You want your guest to walk away going I want one of those or use words like "Rad" "Genius" and "Kewl . I like statement pieces that reflect you, your life, adventures, heritage, ect.

Also, if you find things that are not large in size group them in threes, fives, ect. Odd number grouping draws the eye and makes a statement.

2. Rearrange book by color. ROYGBV is your friend.

3. Gold leaf something. I found these amazing book ends that I loved on pinterest but to find Agate rocks that don't cost an arm and a leg made got me thinking outside the box. LIGHTBULB! Pavers, I headed to Home Depot and grabbed a couple garden pavers to replace the rock. They're heavy enough to hold up books and have the rough edges to make the gilded gold look on point. For first time "gold leafers" I'd buy a kit that has the base coat, leafing and top coat. You can purchase it HERE

Lastly, if you're feeling the need for an update email me I'd love to share or give advice to help out.

How perfectly random is this photo?  I can't find the panel segment but when i do I'll post.

So by now many of you know I'm engaged. YES miracles happen. On March 18, 2015 the day before i turned 35, Eric Pulpan asked me to be his wife and my answer was absolutely YES!

He asked if he could love me forever.

He asked if he could love me forever.

I said, "YES!".

I said, "YES!".

And now I have a gorgeous ring to prove it. :)

This ain't my first rodeo...Party.

It's that time in Houston where we live and breathe the Rodeo; from conversations to outfits "Rodeo" is on our lips, in our minds and close to our hearts. To help celebrate this glorious season, how about we round up some folks and throw a hoot hollerin’ home grown dinner shindig?!

Check out my latest segment on Great Day Houston where I share some tips to make it Rodeo Ready and Purrrr-dy.

GREAT DAY HOUSTON RODEO SEGMENT

Unsure how to prep for your party? I'm Fixin' to show you.

1. Lay your foundation.

  • I made a Texas flag out of Five 5x8 wood boards that I attached together with flat bracket plates. I stained the wood into a Texas flag to use as a table topper. (Cost $45) After rodeo dinner party I am using my Texas masterpiece as a piece of art on my wall.
  • You could also use a fabulous cowhide for a perfect tablecloth.

2. Bandanas. They just say Rodeo.

Four ways to bring bandanas to your party:

  • Flags
  • Table Runner
  • Napkins
  • A Cape

3. Repurpose your old bean and veggie cans by incorporating them in your table setting.

  • Vase
  • Candle Holder
  • Drinking Vessel

4. Entertainment

  • Grab an old western or anything Churck Norris. Project it on a wall and get nostalgic.
  • You can also hire an Square Dancing Caller to square you up with a little dancing.

I leave you folks with this....enjoy your roots. Wherever you're from and whatever culture inspires you make time to celebrate with those you love.

Now get along little doggies and kick it up rodeo style.

YEEHAW!
